How do salves work and how can I use them?

Salves are herbal-infused oils combined with a wax base, like beeswax, to create a skin-friendly ointment. The oil extracts the herb's beneficial properties, either over time or through gentle warming. Adding wax changes the consistency, making it easy to apply to the skin and ensuring it stays in place on your skin. They are often considered an analgesic or a medicinal ointment. 'Ointment' and 'salve' are used interchangeably
