Common sense approach to modern wellness

Common sense approach to modern wellness Everywhere nowadays you see fantastic claims from 'alternative' health products, criticisms of alternative wellness, unrealistic “results” from 'health' experts and conflicting information about health, nutrition and wellness from every angle. The best thing you can do, as any intelligent consumer would, is to educate yourself, research and then make informed decisions regarding your health. Your health is not just taking care of an issue when it arises. Being truly healthy is a series of decisions, sensible changes to your daily routine and diet, taking action to relieve nagging physical problems, improvement to your mental and emotional well being and a host of other improvements so that your normal state is one where you actually feel good. We are truly blessed in that we have both the applied knowledge of our forefathers and mothers as well as scientific and modern medical information to find the best ways for us to be truly healthy. To make truly informed decisions you cannot discount past knowledge or modern information, you need to review all available information and decide how it pertains to your situation and your beliefs. All of the alternative methods have empirical results although we don't always know why they work. Scientific research is starting to shed light on how herbs work chemically and why other methods affect our bodies. And, modern medical practices have verifiable results. All are valuable when deciding what you need to do for any given issue you may face. There is no doubt that modern medicine has powerful diagnostic means to figure out the problem you face. There is also no doubt that thousands of years of results are valid indicators of alternative means of healing.

All that being said, you as a consumer, need to educate yourself. Make no mistake, even in regards to your health you are a consumer, you will pay for something one way or another. You also must realize that there is no one miracle pill, fad formula, media buzz procedure or routine that will cure or correct all problems. If you honestly look back you will realize it took years to get where you are now and it will take time, dedication, education, change, work and patience and prayer to really get back to your normal healthy state. When you're having an issue, go to your doctor, use their diagnostic capabilities to your advantage. Then do a lot of research. Once you've done your research then you discuss treatment with your doctor, your herbalist, your acupuncturist or whoever. I recommend talking to them all. Only then can you make a truly informed decision and decide what path you're going to take.

My personal experience led me to use multiple disciplines. I continue to go through many medical tests, and procedures but decided that I would also use natural means to build, support and strengthen my body and actually heal it, instead of just using drugs to manage my condition. I continue with the procedures and tests and incorporate herbal formulas, exercise and dietary changes. This approach has allowed me to forgo the destructive surgeries the doctors wanted to perform and live with all my bodies systems intact. I may explain my journey in more detail in subsequent posts as time goes on.

I have seen first hand how just using a variety of well thought out herbal mixtures, simply applied, can have immediate, substantial and lasting effects on a chronically diseased client with a sudden acute attack. That client heartbreakingly was giving up and decided to refuse allopathic treatment due to years of frustration. She responded to the herbs almost immediately and recovered from the acute episode. This is the defining incident that I consider my actual start into this journey. God has given us an immense gift with all the varieties of plants we have to choose from. Use them well, use them carefully, use them respectfully and you will not be disappointed. In fact you'll be amazed. Peace
